Job Summary:

The Program Coordinator for Our Wisconsin is an integral member of the Office of Inclusion Education and is primarily responsible for the development, deployment, and management of the online Our Wisconsin experience for students. All incoming first-year and transfer students, (approximately 8,500-10,000 students) each academic year are required to participate in the online component of Our Wisconsin. Our Wisconsin is an educational program that encourages students to contribute to an inclusive campus community and celebrate each other's backgrounds and identities. Our Wisconsin consists of an online training, follow-up online survey, and additional in-person programming centered on topics of inclusion and belonging at UW-Madison. This position reports to the Assistant Director of DEI Signature Programs and will supervise a team of student interns.


Responsibilities:
Advises multicultural student organizations and student leadership and affiliates, develops and executes programming, and serves on institutional committees to support multicultural students and their allies.

  • 20% Provides consultation, resources, and referrals concerning multicultural affairs to various audiences
  • 5% Assists organizations in developing and implementing sustainable leadership practices; and navigating established policies, procedures, and resource management strategies
  • 50% Schedules logistics and secures resources for academic, cultural and social programs and events that contribute to the recruitment and retention of multicultural students and the enrichment of the institutional community
  • 5% Serves as liaison to various committees regarding initiatives and best practices
  • 10% Program development, execution, logistics, and assessment of Our Wisconsin and additional Inclusion Education programming
  • 5% Training and coaching a team of student interns who are responsible for facilitating additional workshop and training opportunities for students
  • 5% Development and maintenance of relationships with campus and external partners, vendors, and stakeholders to support the Our Wisconsin program


Tasks:

  • Manages the technical integration, Canvas course development and maintenance, setting up holds, and vendor communication to ensure deployment, access, and assessment of the Our Wisconsin online module.
  • Sends out weekly mass email reminders for all incoming, degree seeking first year and transfer students regarding deadlines and access instructions for Our Wisconsin.
  • Oversees the Our Wisconsin service email account by responding to student requests, troubleshooting problems, and managing inquiries about the Our Wisconsin program.
  • Leads ongoing training, mentoring, and development of the Our Wisconsin intern team through weekly individual check ins and facilitation of weekly team meetings.
  • Develops in-person programming for students to support and expand upon topics covered in Our Wisconsin, and trains interns to facilitate the programming.
  • Facilitates committee meetings, focus groups, surveys, and debrief sessions to intentionally seek feedback from students, staff, and campus stakeholders on Our Wisconsin curriculum.
  • Reviews literature and trends in peer education, student development, and best practices in teaching and learning to update and customize Our Wisconsin curriculum.
  • Supports the creation of data reports and marketing materials to promote and share the impact of Our Wisconsin with students and campus stakeholders.

Required:
- 1 year of relevant experience in an educational context developing programs for students

Desired:
- 2+ years of relevant work experience in a college setting developing programs for undergraduate students

- Experience developing online learning opportunities for college students

- Comfortable facilitating workshops and trainings for diverse student populations

- Working knowledge of best practices in inclusion and belonging


Work Type:

Full Time: 100%

This position may require some work to be performed in-person, onsite, at a designated campus work location. Some work may be performed remotely, at an offsite, non-campus work location upon supervisor and department/Student Affairs division approval.

Depending on Qualifications
The expected starting salary range for this position is $53,000 up to $55,000, depending on qualifications and experience.
