Allure and SELF are looking for a logistics wizard to help manage a team of 45 creatives alongside the Editor in Chief. Part- business mind, part- project manager, part- spreadsheet pro... This role is an internal and external connector. They will act alongside the EIC to grow the revenue of both Allure and SELF with innovative ideas and out-of-the-box thinking. Meanwhile, the Managing Editor will oversee the operations of both publications to see where there are synergies and opportunities to collaborate. The ideal candidate is extremely organized, collaborative, communicative, and experienced in digital media. This position is based in New York and reports to the editor-in-chief.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Act as EIC's primary partner in growing new and innovative lines of business as well as liaising with commercial + consumer revenue + business strategy teams

  • Collaborate with senior leadership of Allure and SELF to come up with long-range strategy plans for business and content

  • Consult and advise on Allure and SELF brand identity and appropriate transformations for new or experimental editorial initiatives (i.e. personalization, AI, and events)

  • Work closely with Executive Editors on content lineups, seeking opportunities for integration and collaboration between Allure and SELF

  • Respond to RFPs and collaborate with sales and consumer marketing to optimize advertising proposals

  • Manage sponsored edit process with the help of editorial teams to ensure client deadlines and expectations are met

  • Manage a special projects team member with revenue growth top of mind

  • Oversee cross-Conde projects - like Allure merchandise, the annual Best of Beauty print issue, an SELF x Epicurious collab, Allure Philippines - as a project manager

  • Ideate and execute external brand partnerships (i.e. SELF x Planned Parenthood or Allure x Snapchat) to help grow brand awareness

  • Attend monthly P&L meetings with the EIC and work closely with finance to ensure editorial operations remain within budget

  • Manage the budget for edit, photo, video, audience development, freelance, and T&E ensuring no overages with quarterly check ins with department heads

  • Oversee expensing, invoicing, contracts, and all aspects of contractor and third-party onboarding

  • Lead efforts to integrate processes between video, commerce, aud dev, and editorial teams for seamless content creation and maintain effective staff communication and serve as a resource for the editorial staff to help resolve challenges swiftly

Requirements:

  • 7+ years experience in digital editorial environments; ideally 4+ years in a management/leadership role

  • Experience with RFP process and working with clients to grow business

  • Experience working closely with finance and/or legal departments on contracts and budgets

  • Ability to build strong working relationships with colleagues and teams across an organization, including problem-solving and decision-making skills in situations involving several departments and key stakeholders

  • Knowledge of the latest/emerging digital tools, platforms, etc., especially with regard to work communication and project management

  • Fluency in digital best practices, from SEO to social media to headline and caption writing

The expected base salary range for this position is from $170,000-$190,000. Salary offers are based on a wide range of factors including but not limited to relevant skills, training, experience, and education.

In addition to salary and a generous employee benefits package, successful candidates may also be eligible to receive discretionary bonus compensation.
