Overview

This position is located in St. Marys, GA.

Maintenance and Modernization has openings for Manufacturing Technicians. In this role you will be responsible for performing submarine shipboard and manufacturing work to support delivered ships at the EB East site.
The successful candidate must be experienced in naval submarine Maintenance and Modernization activity and be flexible as well as adaptable, working in a team environment.

A Manufacturing Technician is a multi-disciplined person that must have one or more skills within the trades. Welders, Electricians, Pipefitters, Shipfitters and Outside Machinists will be preferred and considered first. Other Manufacturing Technicians such as Tool Crib operators, Carpenters, Sheetmetal workers and Material Handlers may be considered at the discretion of the employer.

Candidates shall be experienced in reading blueprints and math skills necessary for establishing or determining ships lines relative to positioning components for installation. Candidates shall be willing to learn new skills and apply themas needed with the appropriate training.

In addition, the successful candidate will be expected to know, comply with and participate in site improvement goals for Safety, Quality, Cost, Schedule and continuous Improvement. Employee may be required to work other than normal duty hours, to include evenings, weekends, and/or holidays. Shift work and emergency overtime may be required.



Qualifications

Required:

    High school Diploma / GED
  • Experience in shipbuilding, ship repair, and/or manufacturing industry
  • Ability to use NAVSEA/SP ships drawings, technical manuals, ship system manuals and various other documents in the performance of this task
  • Must have the ability to perform the functions of the craft to the proper procedures and policies in a safe manner
  • Must be able to qualify and maintain Respiratory Protection certification
  • Must be able to qualify and maintain Fall Arrest Protection certification
  • Must be able to qualify and maintain Lifting & Handling / Industrial Trucks certification
  • Must be able to qualify and maintain the EB Heavy Metals Program requirements
  • Travel to other shipyards in the continental United States is required. Must be willing to accept extended work assignments. the organization is a traveling team
  • Must be able to obtain a DoD Secret Security clearance

Preferred:

  • Minimum of 1 year working in an industrial marine or Navy environment
  • Welding, NDT, Electrical, RADCON and QA experience in Maritime environment
