Join Cottage Health as the Pediatric Hematology/Oncology Ambulatory Clinical Nurse. The Ambulatory Clinical Nurse will support pediatric patients and their families through the delivery of specialized, compassionate care for hematologic and oncologic conditions. This role assists providers in managing complex treatment plans and delivering high-quality nursing care consistent with the goals, objectives, and policies of Cottage Health. The nurse will manage care using the nursing process of assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation, while adhering to standards of professional practice.

Key Responsibilities include:



  • Administration of chemotherapy and biotherapy according to safety and evidence-based protocols.
  • Patient and family education related to diagnosis, treatment, symptom management, and ongoing care for pediatric oncology and blood disorders.
  • Telephone triage, clinical judgment, and communication of patient symptoms and needs to providers in a timely and appropriate manner.
  • Ongoing assessment and coordination of complex oncology treatment plans in collaboration with the care team.
  • Delivery of care and education in multiple Cottage Health locations, including the outpatient surgery center and inpatient pediatric unit, as appropriate.
  • Participation in care coordination, interdisciplinary team meetings, and continuous quality improvement efforts within the clinic.


LEVEL OF EDUCATION



  • Minimum: Associates Degree
  • Preferred: BSN/MSN


CERTIFICATIONS, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS



  • Minimum: Current California RN License, American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS)
  • Preferred: Pediatric Chemotherapy and Biotherapy Certified


YEARS OF RELATED WORK EXPERIENCE



  • Minimum: 3 years of nursing experience or two years of experience specific to the practice specialty of pediatric hematology/oncology.
  • Preferred: Experience in the area of the clinic specialty and in an outpatient setting
