Position Overview


Primary Purpose of Position
The employee's principal research responsibilities will be to conduct field and laboratory experiments to evaluate the effect of different climate adaptive agronomic management practices (cover cropping, manure application, crop rotation etc.) on hemp performance, soil nutrient cycling and greenhouse gas emissions. The main goal of this position is to identify best management practices ( BMP) with improved nutrient use efficiency for sustainable hemp production. The employee will confer with Dr. Arnab Bhowmik on overall research direction and strategy but will exercise a considerable amount of independent judgment and original thinking in carrying out research that contributes to original knowledge and advances the University's reputation in research. The employee will publish research results, in collaboration with Dr. Bhowmik, in recognized journals. The employee will share student mentoring with Dr. Bhowmik and will participate in departmental seminars and other professional activities as assigned.
Primary Function of Organizational Unit

Minimum Requirements
1. Completed Ph.D. degree in agronomy or soil science, specializing in research related to soil fertility and/or production agriculture.
2. Evidence of published scholarly works in peer-reviewed journals
3. Expertise in data analysis using statistical software, ( SAS, R, etc.)
4. Evidence of independence in conducting research
