This role is restricted to U.S. persons (i.e., U.S. citizens, permanent residents, and other protected individuals under the Immigration and Naturalization Act, 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3)) due to access to export-controlled technology. General Job Summary:

The intern engineer will be in school, working toward an engineering degree and have sufficient knowledge to perform engineering design, development, and documentation under the supervision of an engineer. Carry out design and performance for new and redesign turbine hardware, non-turbine engine structures, field failures and production support.

Essential Job Duties:

Work under guidance and supervision from engineering staff in one of the following discipline areas:

Aero

Perform tasks required for hardware aero phase for: mechanical design, concept studies, structures analysis, detailed solid modeling, final drawing/documentation for production hardware.

Design

Perform tasks required for hardware design phase for: mechanical design, concept studies, structures analysis, detailed solid modeling, final drawing/documentation for production hardware.

Durability

Carry out cooling design and life calculations. Perform tasks required for hardware durability phase for mechanical design, concept studies, structures analysis, detailed solid modeling, final drawing/documentation for production hardware.

Structures

Carry out stress, vibration, and life analysis. Perform task required for hardware structures phase for mechanical design, concept studies, structures analysis, detailed solid modeling, and final drawing/documentation for production hardware.

Manufacturing

Manufacturing for new and redesign turbine hardware, non-turbine engine structures, field failures and production support.

Electronics, Software and Controls

Design and analyzes aircraft mechanical, propulsion, component structures, systems, and processes. Design and performance for new and redesign turbine hardware, non-turbine engine structures, field failures and production.

Education and Experience:



  • Typically, two or three years of completed course work in a mechanical or aerospace engineering degree.

Physical Demands:



  • Some light physical effort required.
  • Will be required to perform occasional lifting of light materials.
  • Regularly required to sit, stand, reach, bend and move about the facility.


Work Environment:



  • Work performed in a combination of office and lab environment.
