Job Summary
Auburn University College of Veterinary Medicine ( CVM) is seeking applicants for a Director of Communications and Marketing. This individual directs the communication and marketing services for the College of Veterinary Medicine ( CVM) including, but not limited to daily administrative operations, including planning, coordinating, and managing the functions of Visual Design, Brand Marketing and Social Media, Web Site and the Auburn Veterinarian Magazine.

Essential Functions

  • Directs the administrative and functional duties in relation to communication and marketing services. Supervises three staff employees.
  • Ensures communication products are of the highest quality and contain approved and appropriate content.
  • Advises, collaborates, and consults with department/program, school, and university leaders, deans, and faculty regarding communications, public relations, and marketing issues and directives.
  • Writes, edits, and directs the generation of news release copy, publications material, and web content intended for dissemination.
  • Initiates and directs the planning and implementing of public relations, marketing strategies including branding and storytelling in all medium and context.
  • Maintains accurate, up-to-date information on the CVM's website.
  • Initiates, administers, and oversees special communication and marketing projects and acts as a news liaison with the media.
  • Develops and manages department budget to include reviewing and approving financial reports, vouchers, and acquisitions. Coordinates photo and video documentation of major college events.

Minimum Qualifications


Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in journalism, Communications, Marketing, Business or related field and 6 years of experience in marketing and communications services.

  • Knowledge of various marketing and communication theories, concepts, techniques, mediums and strategies.
  • Ability to write for various audiences and in various formats.
