Key Responsibilities
  • Teach and mentor medical residents and students in diverse clinical settings (clinic, hospital, and beyond).

  • Provide comprehensive patient care, practicing full-scope family medicine, including obstetrics.

Additional Leadership Opportunity

The Department of Family Medicine and Community Health (DFMCH) is also seeking a Vice Chair for Justice, Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion (JEDI) and Josie Robinson Johnson Endowed Chair (20% effort). Qualifications Required:
  • MD or DO degree

  • Completion of an ACGME-accredited Family Medicine residency

  • Board certification in Family Medicine

  • Eligibility for medical licensure in Minnesota

Preferred:
  • Three or more years of clinical practice experience

  • Teaching experience in medical education

  • Experience in curriculum development, program evaluation, and mentoring

  • Engagement in scholarly activities and research

The Department of Family Medicine and Community Health at the University of Minnesota has been a national leader in training primary care physicians for over 45 years. We are the academic sponsor of eight family medicine residency programs, including five in the Twin Cities and three in Greater Minnesota. Our faculty are actively engaged in medical student education, fellowship training, research, and community outreach. We are consistently among the top-funded family medicine departments in the nation, conducting groundbreaking research on health disparities, healthcare delivery, and population health.

Pay and Benefits

Pay Range: This role is dually employed by the University of Minnesota and University of Minnesota Physicians. Salary at the University of Minnesota is dependent upon academic effort of the person hired, and begins at $52,000. Clinical salary, aligned with clinical effort, is provided through University of Minnesota Physicians. Total salary will be in the range of $210,000 - $230,000. Total salary will be dependent on taking medicine and/or OB call, years of experience, and rank. Total salary is competitive with market and based on AAMC salary benchmarks. Opportunities for additional compensation are available via the department's incentive pay plan.
