Assistant Professor - Family Medicine Residency Program | Bethesda Clinic & Woodwinds Hospital | University of Minnesota | Woodbury, MN

The University of Minnesota is seeking a dedicated Assistant Professor to join the Woodwinds Hospital Family Medicine Residency Program as a core faculty member. This role offers an exciting opportunity to train and mentor future family physicians while delivering high-quality, patient-centered care in a supportive academic setting.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide clinical instruction and oversight for medical residents and students across a variety of clinical settings, including outpatient clinics and hospitals.

  • Deliver engaging didactic instruction through seminars, lectures, workshops, and grand rounds.

  • Mentor and support residents and medical students, assisting with their professional and personal development.

  • Practice full-scope family medicine, including obstetrics, in both outpatient and inpatient settings.

  • Contribute to curriculum development, implementation, and continuous evaluation to enhance resident education.

  • Participate in faculty meetings, accreditation processes, committee work, and professional representation.

  • Engage in faculty development opportunities and scholarly activities.

Additional Leadership Opportunity (Optional)

The Department of Family Medicine and Community Health (DFMCH) is also seeking a Vice Chair for Justice, Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion (JEDI) and Josie Robinson Johnson Endowed Chair (20% effort). This leadership role will guide and implement strategic DEI initiatives, creating an inclusive and diverse environment across education, research, and patient care. Qualifications

Required:

  • MD or DO degree

  • Completion of an accredited Family Medicine residency

  • Board certification in Family Medicine

  • Eligibility for licensure in Minnesota

Preferred:

  • Three or more years of clinical practice experience beyond residency

  • One or more years of medical teaching experience

  • Experience in educational program development, curriculum design, and evaluation

  • Experience in scholarly activities and mentoring trainees in research

Pay and Benefits

Pay Range: This role is dually employed by the University of Minnesota and University of Minnesota Physicians. Salary at the University of Minnesota is dependent upon academic effort of the person hired, and begins at $52,000. Clinical salary, aligned with clinical effort, is provided through University of Minnesota Physicians. Total salary will be in the range of $210,000 - $230,000. Total salary will be dependent on taking medicine and/or OB call, years of experience, and rank. Total salary is competitive with market and based on AAMC salary benchmarks. Opportunities for additional compensation are available via the department's incentive pay plan.
