Description

Senior Accountant

People Incorporated is seeking a Senior Accountant to join our accounting and finance team. This role will perform a multitude of accounting duties and analysis with contractual grant accounting, consolidated financial statements, balance sheets and general ledger accounts. The Senior Accountant is also responsible for conducting monthly reconciliations, verifying accuracy of general ledger accounts to contract grant budgets and making revisions and any corrections so data is accurate for decision makers and reporting purposes.

Hours: Full-Time, Monday-Friday, regular business hours

Location: Eagan, MN. Hybrid position - some in-person presence required for meetings, primarily remote work after onboarding and training completed

Hiring Range: $73,700 - $79,600 Salary, based on qualifications

Hiring Bonus: $1,000 Hiring bonus to external candidates

Main Job Duties:

  • Grant contract budget development, cost tracking, documentation and billing for cost based grants. Maintain understanding of allowable costs and monitoring the timely receipt of payments Analyze actual expenses against budget and inform management of variances.
  • Prepare, examine, and analyze accounting records, financial statements, or other financial reports to assess accuracy, completeness, and conformance to reporting to outside grant agencies.
  • Maintain record of accruals, account receivables and other assigned balance sheet accounts. This includes preparing, entering and reconciling general ledger accounts on a monthly basis.
  • Complete complex reconciliations to payroll, billing, advancement and other systems that interface with the accounting records. Initiates analysis and resolution of discrepancies by working collaboratively the appropriate staff and management to identify and resolve issues and update procedures.
  • Maintain company credit card maintenance/usage, maintenance of insurance COI's, annual property tax exempt filings and mandatory grant reporting.
  • Participate in annual independent audits and other audits by external regulatory agencies.
Requirements

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business with a major in Accounting.
  • Minimum of four years of prior accounting experience.
  • Intermediate level knowledge of Excel with proficiency using pivot tables, lookups and logical formulas.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Preference given to candidates with prior grant accounting experience within a not-for-profit work environment.
  • Experience maintaining grant contracts, billing, budgeting and reporting to outside agencies.
  • Experience developing and editing business intelligence reports to ensure financial reporting requirements are met.
