Overview BLOOD COLLECTION TECHNICIAN Christiana Donor Center - Newark, DE In 1954, the Blood Bank of Delmarva was established in the Delmarva region as a private, not for profit agency to collect, test, and distribute blood products. Today, the Blood Bank of Delmarva is a division of New York Blood Center and is among the nation's premium providers of blood products and services and an integral part of the Delmarva community's health care system. Get rewarded with a $2,500 sign-on bonus for joining our dynamic team (Apply today to learn the details) Responsibilities The Blood Collection Technician reports to the Manager, Donor Services and is responsible for performing whole blood collection procedures and allied activities in the donor room in accordance with BBD guidelines. This position is designed as an interim position for new employees until they develop and successfully demonstrate the skills to learn automated collection platforms typically within 12 to 18 months of employment. This position is considered "essential" during severe weather or emergency operation events. Schedule: Monday, 6:30am-2pm Tuesday, 12:30pm-8pm Wednesday, 12:30pm-8pm Thursday, 6:30am-2p Rotating Friday/Saturday, 7am-4pm
Prepares for donor interviews and blood collection by ensuring that interview materials and phlebotomy equipment and supplies are set up and/or operable in keeping with QC standards.
