SUMMARY

The Outside Sales Representative is responsible for selling products and services to businesses and industrial establishments, individuals at sales offices, and at customer's places of business. This position will be based out of our Dayton, OH facility and covering the Columbus/Cincinnati territory.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS



  • Compile lists of prospective customers for use as sales leads, based on information from newspapers, business directories, and other sources.
  • Travel throughout assigned territory to call on regular and prospective customers to solicit orders and/or talk with customers by phone.
  • Assist in planning and development of customer base in current and new territories.
  • Seek new ways to service accounts by acquainting customers with other Schupan services that may be of value to the customer.
  • Be the voice of the customer.
  • Quote prices and credit terms, and prepares sales contracts for orders obtained.
  • Follow up on quotations to obtain competitive market information.
  • Prepare weekly sales call sheet report and maintains expense account information, submitting monthly for reimbursement.
  • Act as company representative at trade association meetings.
  • Foster internal relationships with other departments within Schupan (i.e. operations, inside sales, purchasing, transportation, etc.)
  • Enter information (i.e. part numbers, bill of material, pricing, delivery, etc.) accurately into business system, monitors orders daily to ensure accurate delivery to customers and follows up when necessary.
  • Must be able to communicate effectively in order to: interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form; read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations; write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals; respond to questions from customers and recommend products based on their needs; effectively explain technical information to groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
  • Apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry to calculate discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.
  • Must be able to handle high stress situations.
  • Must be able to interact in person with coworkers and the public.
  • Must be able to travel by air, rail, car based on most efficient and effective mode of travel to accomplish goals and objectives.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Maintain regular and predictable attendance.

Qualifications

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS

REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE



  • Minimum of 2 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and training (required)
  • Bachelor's degree (B.A.) from a four-year college or university (preferred)



SKILLS AND ABILITIES



  • Familiar with Microsoft Office and similar software.



PHYSICAL DEMANDS



  • Lift, move, or position materials weighing up to 15 lbs.
  • Will require frequent travel within assigned territory or area.
