Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

The Welder II position is responsible for joining, fabricating, and repairing metal and other weldable materials using appropriate welding techniques and operating various welding equipment. Key responsibilities include:

  • Welding Operations: Operates welding equipment, including manual TIG, and automatic TIG seam welder to fabricate and assemble materials based on job specifications.
  • Equipment Setup and Maintenance: Sets up and maintains welding equipment in alignment with specific job requirements to ensure optimal performance.
  • Blueprint Interpretation: Reads and interprets blueprints and drawings to determine welding specifications and requirements.
  • Quality Control: Inspects welds visually and dimensionally using precision measuring instruments to verify compliance with blueprints and specifications. Utilizes specified gauges or provided fixtures to ensure dimensions are maintained.
  • Component Manufacturing: Manufactures and maintains component parts and fixtures as needed, consistently adhering to specified tolerances and executing accurate dimensional requirements.
  • Work Area Maintenance: Maintains a clean and organized work area to promote safety and efficiency.
  • Safety and Compliance: Adheres to all company policies and procedures, following applicable safety rules and precautions.
  • Additional Duties: Performs other job-related tasks as assigned.

Qualifications:

Skills:

  • Technical Proficiency: Proficient in operating various welding equipment and tools, with a strong understanding of welding techniques, materials, and safety protocols. Demonstrates the ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings effectively.
  • Problem-Solving: Solid problem-solving skills with the ability to perform root cause analysis and implement effective solutions.
  • Communication: Good communication skills with the ability to convey technical information clearly and work effectively within a team environment.
  • Project Support: Ability to support and contribute to quality improvement projects and initiatives.
  • Documentation: Attention to detail in maintaining accurate and comprehensive documentation.

Education and/or Experience:

  • High school diploma or equivalent; completion of a welding certification program or apprenticeship.
  • Relevant welding certifications (e.g., AWS, ASME) preferred; proficiency in TIG welding processes.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in welding, within the aerospace or manufacturing industry.
  • Understanding of aerospace materials, experience working with a variety of metals, including exotic metals.
  • Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail.
  • Effective communication skills, both written and verbal in English language.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
