About the Legal team:

The NETSCOUT legal team prides itself on being business-focused corporate leaders supporting our corporate mission of being guardians of the connected world. We are seeking an experienced senior products counsel with a strong technology licensing and data privacy background with proven success working as part of an in-house corporate legal team.

NetScout's Senior Products & Privacy Counsel will play a key role as part of the legal team, partnering closely with engineering, product management, marketing, and all other teams associated with the development, launch and sale of the company's products. In addition, this role will have responsibility supporting privacy matters across the company and issues raised by the commercial sales contracts licensing team as well as other related matters that may arise from time-to-time in the course of supporting a dynamic technology company.

The ideal candidate is an effective and pragmatic thought leader who can work independently, apply sound business and legal judgment, set priorities, meet deadlines, pay meticulous attention to detail, and be responsive to business managers. You should be a creative problem solver and capable project manager, with an eye to best practices in legal operations. You should be able to effectively balance achieving the business objective while protecting the company.

This position is onsite and based at our Corporate Headquarters in Westford, Massachusetts.

Responsibilities:



  • Provide legal advice to Engineering, Product Management, and Marketing teams from the initial stages of product development to launch.
  • Craft innovative approaches for tackling new market opportunities; ensure that new market opportunities are designed to achieve the company's business strategy while complying with the applicable domestic and international regulations.
  • Develop expertise on the Service Assurance and Cybersecurity industries and technology trends that will help move the company forward
  • Together with Engineering, manage the company's third-party software review policy and process and ensure compliance with third party terms.
  • Provide advice and guidance on open source options, contributions to open source projects and company-hosted projects.
  • Draft, negotiate and advise on a variety of complex transactions necessary for product development and new market opportunities.
  • Ensure products comply with U.S. and international laws and regulations.
  • Provide ongoing legal counseling and thought leadership to senior business leaders across a wide range of topical areas, including intellectual property, artificial intelligence, privacy, complex agreement structures, approval processes, and company policies and procedures.
  • Review, draft, and negotiate licenses and support the continuous improvement of standard form agreements and legal processes.
  • Support regulatory and compliance efforts, including data privacy, artificial intelligence, US export laws and international trade compliance.


Basic Qualifications/Skills:



  • Juris Doctorate required with admission to a state bar.


Preferred Qualification/Skills:



  • At least ten years' legal practice experience required with emphasis on technology and support of engineering and product management teams. Most of this experience should be working in house, preferably at a network, security, or technology company.
  • Solid foundation in IP licensing required; prior experience with third party software management systems a plus.
  • Experience with advising on global and U.S. state data privacy and protection laws (GDPR, CCPA, etc.). Relevant data privacy certifications a plus.
  • Experience advising on legal considerations related to the use of all forms of artificial intelligence,
  • Ability to manage a diverse and complex workload while maintaining priorities and proactively anticipating issues, particularly in a fast-paced corporate setting; ability to manage many projects with minimal supervision and on a deadline.
  • A passion for technology with an interest in understanding trends and future innovation to help drive the Service Assurance industry, and the laws the impact the industry, forward.
  • Excellent communications, analytical and strategic thinking skills; strong collaboration and teaming skills; attention to detail.
  • A can-do and practical attitude when providing advice to clients, willingness to work on a variety of legal matters.
