Position Description The Meetings & Courses department at Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory is looking for an IT Course Aide to support the IT Services Manager in facilitating a variety of seasonal meetings and courses. This role involves learning and performing a range of tasks to ensure smooth operations. Position Responsibilities Computer hardware setup and maintenance Scientific software installation tier 1 level support Management of equipment inventory Computer/printer/network troubleshooting or repair Assist meetings staff with meetings and events (onsite registration and execution), as needed. Partake in additional special projects assigned by the Executive Director. Adapt to demanding situations, changing procedures, and methods or processes. Position Requirements EDUCATION: College student majoring in the Information Technology field. SKILLS: Candidate must have proficiency with both Windows and Mac OS X environments, including basic terminal commands, storage/file protocols, and OS/ Hardware troubleshooting techniques A+ certification a plus, but not required Able to lift/carry/maneuver reasonably heavy computer equipment [~50-75lbs] Excellent technical communication, organization and time management skills with attention to detail Must be able to learn/act quickly under a fast-paced setting within a team and independently Availability: Work a full-time (40 hours/week) from mid-May until mid-August. Occasional weekend work may be necessary for this position as well as the need for this person being able to work on the 4th of July. Compensation The hourly rate for this role is $17.50-$20.00. The hourly rate listed is a good faith determination of potential base compensation that may be offered to a successful applicant for this position at the time of this job advertisement and may be modified in the future.
