Essential Job Duties
We are seeking a skilled HVAC Mechanic to join our maintenance team, responsible for the operation, maintenance, and repair of heating, cooling, and related systems. This role supports campus facilities by ensuring HVAC and mechanical systems operate smoothly and efficiently. If you're experienced in diagnosing, troubleshooting, and repairing HVAC, plumbing, and electrical systems and thrive in a dynamic, collaborative environment, we encourage you to apply.

Key responsibilities and duties include, but are not limited to:


  • Perform maintenance, repairs, and installation on HVAC systems, including boilers, chillers, and associated equipment
  • Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair boilers, pumps, steam lines, air compressors, and other steam-generating systems
  • Conduct preventive maintenance on HVAC, refrigeration, and air conditioning equipment, adhering to manufacturer guidelines
  • Install, maintain, and repair plumbing systems and fixtures, including cutting, threading, and assembling pipes
  • Execute journey-level electrical work, including installing, maintaining, and repairing panels, switch gear, starters, and related electrical equipment up to 600 vac

  • Identify and correct faults in control systems, including temperature and humidity controllers, pneumatic control valves, and sensors
  • Repair or replace components in HVAC systems, ensuring all work aligns with safety and quality standards
  • Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, materials used, and inspections performed
  • Collaborate with team members to resolve complex technical issues and improve system reliability

Qualifications


Minimum Experience/Education
High school diploma or equivalency; or demonstrated possession of the competencies necessary to perform the work. Some positions may require special licenses or certification(s).

Optional Guidelines: Experience in the trade(s) areas related to the area of assignment may be substituted on a year-for-year basis.
Other Required Qualifications

  • Demonstrated depth of knowledge and skills for pneumatic controls, as well as DOC type of controls
  • Ability to communicate effectively with supervisors and the general public, as well as ability to understand and follow verbal and written instructions and other communications related to work assignments and other matters
  • Ability to lift up to 90 pounds occasionally, with or without reasonable accommodations

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in the trades of HVAC, plumbing, and electrical
