NATURE AND SCOPE:

Intermediate level individual contributor in psychometrics, providing scientific and technical skills in measurement research and in the interpretation of results. Under the guidance of more senior staff, acts as a psychometric advisor both internal and external to the organization. Engages in applied research (e.g., standard setting, growth modeling, college and career readiness). Provides leadership to psychometric interns and associate psychometricians.

PRINCIPAL ACTIVITIES:

  • Performs and monitors statistical analyses required for data reporting and interpretation of results under general supervision.
  • Assists in planning, coordinating and conducting statistical work for assigned area.
  • Accountable for basic statistical design and analysis decisions.
  • Assists in developing, designing and documenting technical and operational procedures and statistical guidelines for assigned area.
  • Represents organization's position on technical issues to clients, external boards and panels, professional associations, and other agencies.
  • Applies sufficient knowledge of statistical procedures, psychometric methods and statistical programming (e.g., SAS, SPSS, WINSTEPS, BILOG, MULTILOG, PARSCALE, C++, SPLUS, FORTRAN, FlexMIRT) to work independently on most aspects of statistical analysis work, while receiving instruction and guidance in other aspects.
  • Maintains documentation and data files related to research analyses.
  • Advising clients on basic technical issues.
  • Interpreting operational and research-based results within the organization and with clients.
  • Conducts and collaborates on research on behalf of clients under the guidance of more senior researchers.
  • Makes presentations at national and international conferences and may present technical information to different audiences (e.g., client groups or technical advisory committees) with guidance from more senior researchers.
  • Conducts research and special analyses and contributes to the development of data interpretation materials and publications.
  • Perform duties and fulfill responsibilities that may, from time to time, include related or unrelated tasks.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

Education & Experience:

  • Ph.D. in educational, statistics, measurement, psychometrics or an Ed.D. in educational measurement required
  • 3+ years of relevant work experience required

Anticipated Travel (may include local, national, and/or international travel):

  • Occasional travel (10%-20%)
