Engineering & Maintenance Manager

Overview: The Engineering & Maintenance Manager is responsible for the strategic planning and execution of maintenance and engineering activities within a site. This role involves developing and implementing maintenance policies, managing budgets, and ensuring compliance with safety and quality regulations. The manager leads and coordinates teams to maintain and improve equipment efficiency, minimize downtime, and support plant goals. Additionally, they oversee programs to ensure operational excellence and plant sustainability.

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop and implement long-term maintenance strategies and goals, including TPM strategy and autonomous maintenance.
• Monitor and analyze maintenance performance metrics, using data to drive improvements in efficiency and effectiveness.
• Ensure the availability of necessary tools, equipment, and spare parts by developing inventory management and procurement processes.
• Manage budgeting, resource allocation, and cost control to ensure efficient use of resources and plant assets.
• Ensure all maintenance activities comply with safety regulations and standards, leading regular audits and implementing preventive and corrective actions.
• Ensure machine and worker permits or licenses are aligned with local and global standards, and lead the extension of permits or licenses when necessary.
• Oversee engineering and maintenance projects from inception to completion, ensuring they are completed safely, on time, and within budget. Large projects may be assisted by the global engineering taskforce.
• Manage relationships with external vendors and contractors, negotiating technical scope and ensuring quality service delivery.
• Lead the implementation of the Operating System in the E&M department and serve as a key point of contact between maintenance and engineering and other key site departments.

Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent relevant experience.
• 5+ years of experience in the engineering and maintenance field.
• 5+ years of experience as a people leader.
• Intermediate mechanical skills: proficiency with tools and machinery, including the ability to repair and maintain equipment.
• Intermediate electrical knowledge: understanding electrical systems and associated safety risks and precautions.
• Intermediate plumbing skills: understanding plumbing systems for maintenance and repair tasks.
• Intermediate HVAC knowledge: understanding of heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems.
• Expert knowledge of MS Office tools.
• Excellent analytical and quantitative skills.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Ability to lead change and deliver results.
• Highly collaborative and a team player.
• Experience working in a manufacturing operation with Good Manufacturing Practices and food safety requirements where applicable.

Training / Certifications:

• Local safety certifications where applicable.
• Six Sigma Certification preferred.
