- The Security Analyst (SA) must demonstrate comprehensive knowledge of and adherence to security requirements established in legislation, regulations, and policy statements, including but not limited to E.O. 10450, E.O. 12968, Adjudicative Guidelines for Determining Eligibility for Access to Classified Information.
- The Security Analyst must possess a deep understanding of current investigative techniques, practices, and legal limitations.
- The Security Analyst must exhibit familiarity with subversive and foreign intelligence service organizations, operations, and methods of the Department of State, DCSA, and OPM.
- Must understand and apply security regulations and policies affecting employment within the U.S. Government Publishing Office and Executive Order 12968.
- Must be knowledgeable about factors affecting the suitability of applicants for Federal Government employment as outlined in 5 CFR 731 and 3 FAM 622.
- The Security Analyst must stay updated on the results of court cases and other legal determinations impacting the personnel security program.
- The Security Analyst shall analyze and evaluate investigative reports of a complex nature and proficiently prepare oral and written summaries of the contained information.
- The SA shall review security forms for completion and accuracy.
- The SA will demonstrate the ability to draw sound conclusions and make recommendations solely based on factual information producing logically organized, clear, concise, and unbiased written products.
- The Security Analyst shall effectively communicate and collaborate with individuals at various levels within the Department and other Federal agencies.
- The Security Analyst shall provide administration and maintenance of personnel security systems (DISS, NBIS, eAPP, NP2 Portal, CVS/PIPs and fingerprinting.
- The SA will handle the security clearance process, including initiation, submission and monitoring.
- The SA will provide compliance reporting and security training for personnel.
- Other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs):
- Must have knowledge and be familiar with federal security regulations and guidelines (Executive Orders).
- Must be familiar with security systems such as DISS, NBIS, eAPP, NP2 Portal, CVS/PIPs, and fingerprinting.
Minimum/General Experience:
- Must be a U.S. Citizen or Naturalized Citizen.
- Requires a minimum of 5 - 7 years of experience in the Personnel Security field.
- Ability to multi-task, pay close attention to detail, stay alert and focused, and coordinate and manage electronic security equipment.
- Ability to use computer software applications including, but not limited to Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, databases, and email.
- Possess excellent organizational and file management skills and the ability to plan and execute administrative work with little supervision.
- Possess excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Possess excellent typing abilities and the skill to prepare documents accurately with minimal errors.
- Ability to professionally interact with customers, colleagues, and command members at all levels; and to foster positive business relationships.
