General Responsibilities:
With a deep understanding of the client's lifecycle, the Marketing Strategist leads teams through the pursuit process. Marketing Strategists focus on a Strategic Sector, Service Line, or client/pursuit to drive the development of a marketing strategy, pursuit strategy, and messaging for a specific practice. Marketing Strategists also lead marketing strategies to accelerate top line growth and differentiation in the marketplace.
Essential Roles and Responsibilities:
- Partner with Strategic Sector or Service Line Leaders on market-specific strategy and competitive differentiation to direct and support business plan priorities. Develop custom market intelligence to inform successful target client and opportunity capture planning.
- Facilitate, manage, present and disseminate sector-specific marketing research on industry trends to inform the growth of the sector.
- Collaborate with Marketing/Communications to raise awareness, reinforce our differentiators and connect with the appointed Sector or Service Line or Client/Pursuit.
- Lead the quality of brand messages and materials for the market and work collaboratively to ensure unified brand messaging is delivered consistently across the practice.
- Be a mentor and resource for Marketing Specialists to ensure consistent use of content, including pertinent information relating to the industry, as used in collateral including project sheets, RFPs and RFQs.
- Build pursuit teams and leads strategy sessions for major pursuit opportunities. Through excellent facilitation, selection committee analysis, and the development of win themes, is able to coach interview teams to a selection.
- Follow safety rules, guidelines and standards for all projects. Participate in pre-task planning. Report any safety issues or concerns to management.
- Maintain quality standards on all projects.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Work with operations (offices and divisions)
- Facilitate war rooms or strategy sessions for major pursuit opportunities in this market.
- Supports teams to understand client's needs specific to pursuits through customized answers and win themes/differentiators.
- Lead sector or service line conference calls and identify opportunities to share industry knowledge through reports, summaries and presentations.
- Attend and present at select national sector-related conferences and help with planning and approve the submission of speaking abstracts for sector-specific conferences.
- Ensure content used by the dedicated sector or service line team is vetted to be consistent throughout each channel (proposals, brochures, website, whitepapers, social media, newsletters, blogs, speaking abstracts, white papers, p, etc.)
- Work with the Marketing and Communications departments, coordinate and oversee a systematic process to develop, organize and consistently update content and collateral to support the sector or service line through the promotion of projects, expertise and capabilities.
- Provide input into budget development with the Chief Marketing Officer.
- Builds relationships and client contact with key decision makers for pursuits.
- Strong at doing competitive analysis and understands all competition with the industry and can advise on win strategies to differentiate.
Working with Marketing Communications
- Manage boilerplate information and key messages to ensure support of the sector's strategy.
- Work with Marketing and Communications to communicate and manage participation in awards, surveys and rankings specific to the sector.
- Work with Marketing and Communications to track and maintain a calendar of sector-specific national conferences.
- Be a resource for Marketing Coordinators to ensure consistent use of content, including pertinent information relating to the industry, as used in collateral including project sheets, RFPs and RFQs.
- Work closely with our communications staff, including PR manager/agencies, to oversee the creation and curation of print, online, website, social and eNewsletter content, ensuring all channels are updated consistently, and aligned to market strategy.
- Lead the creative direction and establishment of compelling graphics to support key messages and content (with graphic design team).
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in communications, marketing, or related degree and 10 years' experience, Or, in lieu of a degree, a minimum of 14 years related experience.
- Certified Professional Services Marketer (CPSM)
- Strategic and critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
- Strong understanding of the construction process.
- Ability to lead a team to understand client personas and psychographics to better market and consult on services.
- Ability to understand market drivers and adjust messaging when needed.
- Valid driver's license with acceptable violation history.
