Overview

Pharming is seeking to hire an Accounting & Payroll Specialist to assist our Finance department in payroll processes. Our goal is for the Accounting & Payroll Specialist to ensure seamless coordination with both our HR and Finance teams regarding payroll and equity compensation. Successful execution will involve strong communication and time management skills along with a proficiency in Microsoft Excel. This is a hybrid role - must be able to report to the Warren, NJ office, 2 to 3 times per week.

Key Responsibilities

The Accounting & Payroll Specialist will be responsible for a wide variety of matters in support of Pharming's growth:

Core functions include:



  • Payroll Processing

    • Coordinate and execute semi-monthly regular payroll, periodic bonus payrolls, and various ad hoc payrolls, ensuring payroll is accurate, timely and compliant with applicable regulations.
    • Coordinate with HR on any master data changes, new employees, terminated employees - ensure proper support.
    • Coordinate with appropriate groups to initiate and obtain approvals for various bonus program payouts.
    • Coordinate and manage employee fringe benefit tax calculations related to company leased vehicles.
    • Respond to employee inquiries regarding payroll issues, tax forms, and deductions.
    • Troubleshoot and resolve payroll system issues together with our payroll service partner, ensuring the integrity of data.
    • Maintain the confidentiality of sensitive employee and payroll data.
    • Enter equity compensation-related transactions into the payroll system.


  • Payroll Tax

    • Responsible for all payroll tax related matters - including changes year to year and coordinating new states.
    • Coordination with state tax programs and payroll provider to troubleshoot issues and ensure proper set up and withholdings.


  • General Ledger Maintenance

    • Review the payroll general ledger accounts, ensuring all financial transactions are properly recorded.
    • Reconcile balance sheet accounts and investigate discrepancies.
    • Conduct month-end and year-end close processes, including journal entries and accruals.


  • Audit and Compliance:

    • Assist in internal and external audits by providing necessary documentation and explanations.
    • Ensure compliance with internal financial controls and regulatory requirements.


  • This is a hybrid role - must be able to report to the Warren, NJ office, 2 to 3 days per week.



Minimum Qualifications



  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or related field preferred.
  • 4+ years of experience in general accounting and/or payroll.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other accounting and payroll software.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.



Preferred Qualifications




  • Experience with ADP (payroll system) and SAP (ERP) is preferred but not required.
  • A high understanding of payroll regulations, federal and state tax laws, and accounting principles.
  • High attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to work effectively with employees, HR, and management.



Salary Range

Pharming takes into consideration a combination of candidate's work experience, training, and education, as well as the scope of the role, complexity, and external market and internal value when determining a salary level.

The base salary range for this position is from $80,000 to $97,000 per year.
