Essential Job Duties
The graphic designer will work with the art director to help design and produce NC State magazine. NC State is a perfect bound print magazine published three times a year with the purpose of keeping alumni, students, faculty, staff and friends of the university connected.

The graphic designer will format text and visuals, obtain photos, prepare files for print production, communicate with outside vendors and university partners, work with advertisers on files and deadlines, create production schedules, prepare and build out stories for the online magazine, attend weekly magazine staff meetings and upload final magazine files to the printer.

Qualifications


Minimum Experience/Education

High school diploma or equivalency and two years of visual/graphic arts experience related to the area of assignment; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.

Other Required Qualifications

  • Strong written and oral communication skills, and will thrive working with a team in a creative setting
  • Proficient in Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, Acrobat) software
  • Strong production and organizational skills
  • Layout and typesetting skills
  • Experience working with offset and digital printing processes
  • Experience with color correction and color proofing
  • Excellent proofreading skills
  • Ability to multitask under deadline pressure

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience in visual/graphic design for print media and/or marketing campaigns.
  • Familiarity with AP style and magazine design and production is a plus.
