Job Title: Certified Medical Interpreter /Translator Location: Petersburg, VA 23803 Pay Rate: $20.0/hr. without benefits Duration: 6+ months Job Description: Responsibilities range from interpreting non-education situations to interpreting routine medical, mental health and administrative services in clinical settings. Provide accurate translations for healthcare providers and patients as verbatim as possible considering cultural practices, context, slang, and linguistic variation. Interpreting for families within health departments or patient's home with regard to visits, and medical updates; and researching medical terms in order to be able to interpret as accurately as possible. Ability to service all seven locations, and all district departments Excellent oral communication skills and ability to exercise sensitivity and patience in interactions with patients, families, and staff in stressful situations while maintaining confidentiality, and awareness of cultural differences. Preferred: Certification from an independent medical interpreter school or program. Good knowledge of medical terminology. Excellent verbal communication skills.
