HX5 is currently seeking an entry level Ground Systems Controller to work at Marshall Space Flight Center (MSFC). This candidate will work in a control room environment to provide ground system support services for the International Space Station Payload Operations Center, Space Launch System Engineering Support Center, and other NASA programs. The Ground Systems Controller is responsible for configuring, monitoring, and recovering critical ground system services required to support Space Station scientists and payload developers world-wide. Critical services include telemetry receipt, routing and archival, payload commanding, voice/video distribution, and configuration management systems.
Education and Experience
- Must have a Bachelor's degree and one (1) to three (3) years experience or five (5) years of equivalent related experience
- Must have working knowledge of desktop applications including word processing, spreadsheet, and database programs required
- The individual selected must be able to work all shifts, including weekends and holidays (40 hours per week)
- Must have excellent writing and speaking skills
- The candidate will undergo a rigorous training certification program and must successfully complete certification to retain their position
- Must be able to work well in a team environment
Preferences:
- Bachelor's degree in a STEM-related field preferred, or 5 years of relevant experience
- Experience that demonstrates the ability to work well under pressure
- Working knowledge of Linux/Unix and Microsoft command line functions preferred
- Previous experience working in a lead position at a help desk call center, computer systems maintenance, plant operations, etc. preferred
- Experience supporting NASA and the space program
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
The individual selected must be willing and able to work all shifts (11 p.m. to 7 a.m., 7 a.m. to 3 p.m., and 3 p.m. to 11 p.m.). The individual selected will be expected to work weekends and holidays that fall during her/his scheduled work week.
Other Position Requirements
- Proof of U.S. Citizenship or US Permanent Residency is a requirement for this position.
- Must be able to complete a U.S. government background investigation.
