Job Description

Position Title: Civilian Investigator - Case Management

Position Overview:
The Peoria Police Department is seeking a dedicated Civilian Investigator - Case Management to support critical case management efforts. This role focuses on conducting in-depth case research within departmental databases to resolve case backlogs and update missing dispositions. The Investigator will collaborate closely with internal and external agencies to ensure that accurate records are available for use by law enforcement, prosecutors, courts and to protect public safety and national security.

Key Responsibilities:



  • Perform detailed case research using law enforcement databases.
  • Review and update case dispositions, ensuring data accuracy.
  • Coordinate with external agencies to address cases requiring their input.
  • Help reduce the department's open disposition backlog.
  • Facilitate accurate sharing of criminal history information.

The Police Civilian Investigator position is a professional staff position within the Police Department. This position is a temporary full-time benefitted position and is part of a two-year grant program. If the grant program proves successful, the department plans to re-apply for the grant program after the expiration date. This position will work four ten-hour shifts assigned to the Criminal Investigations Division, Case Management Unit.

This position will:



  • Perform comprehensive criminal records research by using a variety of agencies databases and resources.
  • Review police reports to evaluate criminal charges submitted to the court, the charges convicted, turndown, or dismissed and update the final disposition report through the Arizona Department of Public Safety (AZDPS) database.
  • Attend trainings at AZDPS to learn and more effectively conduct case and suspect research to determine the final disposition report.
  • Work closely with other agencies and courts to find suspects case status and case dispositions.
  • Maintain electronic case dispositions reports, complete correction forms and email them to DPS for case update, scan and attach disposition reports into police database, update police database case activity notes.
  • Provide exceptional customer service.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

The hiring range for the position is $23.53 to $28.78.

Please note this is a Fixed-Term (Contract) position that is eligible for benefits.

Minimum Requirements:



  • Education: High school graduation or equivalency.
  • Experience: 2-4 years' experience. Considerable previous experience required in the same or similar previous positions.
  • Physical Demands: Work requires moderate physical exertion. Forces exerted are equivalent to lifting between 10 and 25 pounds.


Licenses and Certifications:



  • Valid Arizona Class "D" Driver's License upon hire.
  • Attainment of Arizona State Criminal Justice Information Systems Terminal Operator Certification within 6 months of hire.
  • Full Police Department background check required, including polygraph.
