Individual contributors with responsibility in a professional discipline or specialty. Spends majority of time leading the design, implementation or delivery of processes, implementation of delivery processes, programs and policies using specialized knowledge and skills normally acquired through advanced education (typically University). Has in-depth knowledge in own discipline and basic knowledge of related disciplines. Solves complex problems; takes a new perspective on existing solutions. Works independently; receives minimal guidance. May lead projects or project steps within a broader project or have accountability for ongoing activities or objectives. Acts as a resource for colleagues with less experience. May represent the level at which career may stabilize for many years or even until retirement.
The Information Technology job family acquires, designs, implements and operates the university's information technology solutions for faculty, staff and students, including computer hardware, operating systems, communications, software applications, data processing and security. Responsible for planning, organizing, and controlling resources and processes to achieve project and/or program objectives within scope, time, quality, and budget constraints. Technical project management work requires some foundational knowledge in the specific area in order to advise on scope changes, Quality Assurance and other more technical aspects of the project.
