HX5 is currently seeking an Aerospace Assembly Integration and Test (AIT) Systems Engineer to join our team in Cleveland, Ohio in support of the GEARS contract at NASA Glenn Research Center.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

The selected candidate will support the Power and Propulsion Element (PPE) Systems Engineering and Integration (SE&I) efforts in support of NASA's Gateway. The Gateway is being developed to facilitate and successfully maintain human presence beyond low-Earth orbit, and the PPE provides a critical path to that success.

Principally, the selected candidate will act as the PPE AIT Lead and be responsible for the following:



  • Maintain insight into the PPE spacecraft AIT of NASA's industry partner (IP)
  • Provide assessments to NASA teams responsible for oversight of the IP
  • Support IP production meetings and assist in issue resolution
  • Facilitate resolutions of work issues and non-conformances between NASA and the IP
  • Maintain insight and resolve issues with the IP spacecraft level test plans and procedures
  • Manage and facilitate transfer of Government Furnished Equipment to the IP in support of spacecraft AIT
  • Support PPE spacecraft integration and launchsite activities of the IP

    • Assist the PPE Launch Vehicle (LV) Lead with LV integration
    • Assist in planning for European Radiation Sensor Array (ERSA)/Small ORU (Orbital Replacement Unit) Robotics Interface (SORI) integration
    • Assist ERSA/SORI integration at the IP launchsite




In addition, the selected candidate will be responsible for Test Like You Fy (TLYF) activities that include:



  • Define and document the PPE TLYF process
  • Define, document, and process PPE TLYF exceptions


The selected candidate will support the PPE SE&I Lead, and this effort is monitored by the Science and Space Technology Systems Branch at NASA GRC, which provides leadership in systems engineering to enable science and space technology programs and projects.

Required Skills:



  • Experience with systems engineering for spacecraft hardware
  • Knowledge or experience with AIT and TLYF
  • Knowledge or experience with NASA systems engineering processes
  • Excellent communication skills for interacting with the NASA team and their industry partners
  • Highly motivated and able to work independently
  • Committed to successful collaboration with the NASA team and industry partners


Desired Skills:



  • Experience with system level AIT and TLYF for large spacecraft
  • Experience with NASA spaceflight hardware projects
  • Experience working with NASA


Education/Experience:

Completed at least a bachelor 's degree with a STEM-related major, from an accredited program, with the following education and experience:



  • Bachelor of Science degree with 20+ years of relevant experience
  • Master of Science degree with 15+ years of relevant experience


Other Position Requirements:



  • Proof of U.S. Citizenship or US Permanent Residency is a requirement for this position.
  • Must be able to complete a U.S. government background investigation.
