Summary

The Director of Procurement - Construction & CapEx will lead and oversee the strategic sourcing, procurement, and contract management for new construction and expansion projects. This role is critical in ensuring the timely acquisition of high-quality construction services and materials at optimal costs, while maintaining strong supplier relationships and mitigating risks.

Responsibilities
  • Strategic Sourcing: Develop and implement a long-term procurement strategy for construction projects, focusing on cost reduction, quality improvement, and supplier relationship management.
  • Supplier Relationship Management (SRM): Build and maintain strong relationships with general contractors, subcontractors, and material suppliers, leveraging partnerships to drive value and innovation.
  • Contract Negotiation: Lead complex contract negotiations, including bid processes, change orders, and dispute resolution, ensuring optimal terms and conditions for the organization.
  • Risk Management: Identify, assess, and mitigate construction-related risks, such as schedule delays, cost overruns, and quality issues, developing contingency plans.
  • Cost Optimization: Drive continuous cost reduction and value optimization through strategic sourcing initiatives, leveraging economies of scale and competitive bidding.
  • Performance Management: Monitor and evaluate supplier performance, including project timelines, quality standards, and cost performance, implementing corrective actions as needed.
  • Stakeholder Management: Collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams, including engineering, project management, finance, and operations, to ensure alignment and support for procurement initiatives.
  • Innovation: Stay informed about industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in construction procurement, identifying opportunities for innovation and process improvement.
  • Material Procurement: Oversee the procurement of raw materials, such as concrete, steel, and other construction materials, ensuring timely delivery and cost-effective sourcing.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • 10+ years of progressive procurement experience in the construction industry, with a strong focus on large-scale projects.
  • Proven track record in leading and managing high-performing procurement teams.
  • Deep understanding of construction contracts, specifications, and industry standards.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify opportunities for cost savings and operational efficiency.
  • Excellent negotiation and communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Proficiency in procurement software and tools.
  • Experience working in a large, complex organization.
  • Strong understanding of construction project management principles and methodologies.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and prioritize tasks effectively.

Compensation Range:$118,400.00-$177,600.00, plus bonus.
