  • Primary Objective of Position: To empower every participant with the skills, knowledge, and confidence in their swimming ability to maintain a lifelong commitment to safety, wellness, and enjoyment in the water.

    Wages:
    Starting pay is $17.00 per hour depending on experience and certifications.

    Job Responsibilities:
    1. Plan and lead practices following Minnetonka Aquatics Rec Team Skill progression to develop their technique and competitive swimming skills.
    2. Provide direction and feedback to Rec Team Coaches.
    3. Ensure a safe and positive environment for all participants.
    4. Greet visitors and provide information on pool facilities and other Minnetonka Aquatics programs.
    5. Enforce pool policies, rules and regulations.
    6. Communicate with parents about Rec Team Program.
    7. Complete records and reports as needed.
    8. Recognize and respond effectively in emergencies.
    9. Performs other duties of a similar nature or level.
    10. Committed to working at least 3 sessions/ year

    Job Qualifications:
    1. Have 2+ sessions of rec coaching, or 6 months of similar coaching experience
    2. Strong knowledge of Rec Team program, competitive swimming, rec curriculum, policies, and effective coaching methods
    3. Proven experience as a successful coach and leader
    4. Driven to improve Rec Team program and provide an excellent experience for participants
    5. Communicate with Rec Coordinator and keep them updated on the Rec Team program and staff whenever they are not present
    6. Ability to serve as a leader amongst peers and enforce staff and program policies as needed
    7. Proven record of punctuality and responsibility.
    8. Strong communication skills and positive interpersonal skills (relates well to children and adults) as applied to interaction with coworkers, supervisor, the general public, etc. sufficient to exchange or convey information and to receive work direction.
