DESCRIPTION OF WORK

A Plumbing Trade Instructor instructs inmates in all areas of plumbing. You will provide on-the-job training and vocational training in general plumbing, preventative plumbing, and equipment installation. You will assign and review work, inspect work in progress, and approve completed work. As an instructor, it is important to ensure inmate performance complies with standard principles and practices of the plumbing trade, as well as to maintain safety and custody protocols at all times.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment, 40 hours per week.
  • Work hours are 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
  • This position is eligible for full retirement benefits at age 50 or 55.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • Five years of experience in the inspection, maintenance, repair, assembly, and installation of pipes, fittings, and fixtures used in heating, water, and drainage systems; or
  • Completion of an approved apprenticeship in the plumbing trade; or
  • An equivalent combination of experience and training which includes one year of journey level work in the plumbing trade.

Other Requirements:

  • Successful completion of basic training in Elizabethtown, PA is required.

  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.

  • You must pass a background investigation and meet Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) compliance requirements.
