The Senior Data Scientist will play a key role in safeguarding Verizon customers by developing and implementing advanced fraud prevention strategies. Additionally, you will contribute to revenue growth by enabling secure and seamless credit solutions.

This role offers broad exposure to Financial Operations, empowering you to leverage data science expertise to drive significant business value. Key focus areas include enterprise-wide fraud mitigation, bad debt reduction, sales growth through secure credit models, and cost optimization through data-driven insights.

This role will collaborate closely with business partners to influence strategic direction and

create implementation plans that are aligned with the technology roadmap. This is a dynamic, product-focused environment that thrives on continuous innovation. This role will collaborate with a team of highly skilled and motivated professionals who consistently push the

boundaries of innovation. Additionally, you will cultivate strong partnerships with business and technology teams to optimize business outcomes.

You will be responsible for the following but not limited to:

  • Designing, developing, and maintaining scalable data pipelines to ingest, process, and store large amounts of structured and unstructured data.

  • Understanding of data science principles and techniques, coupled with experience managing and analyzing extensive datasets, Optimize and tune data pipelines to ensure high performance and reliability in data processing.

  • Collaborating with data scientists and analysts to provide accessible, clean, and well-structured data for analytical and machine learning models.

  • Deploying models in production both in real time and batch modes.

  • Tracking model performance and taking proactive measures to adapt to changes in the operating environment.

  • Standardizing and automating model development/deployment using MLOps techniques

  • Building and optimizing ETL workflows to transform raw data into meaningful insights, ensuring data integrity and accuracy across systems.

  • Collaborating with data scientists and analysts to design appropriate data models to support business intelligence and machine learning applications.

  • Automating manual data processes to improve data accessibility and scalability.

  • Working closely with product, engineering, and analytics teams to understand data needs and provide reliable infrastructure for data-driven decisions

  • Playing the role of a SME as well as mentor Junior Data Scientists as needed

What we're looking for..

You'll need to have:
  • Bachelor's degree or four or more years of work experience.

  • Eight or more years of relevant experience required, demonstrated through one or a combination of work and/or military experience, or specialized training.

  • Experience working on data science and programming languages - Python, Java, or Scala.

  • Knowledge of cloud platforms - AWS, Google Cloud, or Azure, data storage and processing tools.

Even better if you have one or more of the following:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Data Science, Statistics or a related discipline.

  • Experience with SQL and NoSQL databases

  • Familiarity with cloud platforms - AWS, Google Cloud, or Azure, data storage and processing tools (e.g., S3, Redshift, BigQuery, Dataflow)

  • Experience developing fraud detection models, data version control and data visualization tools.

  • Experience with big data tools like Hadoop, Spark, or Kafka, UNIX shell scripting using Python, data modeling, ETL processes, and data warehousing and data lakes

  • Working on caching solutions for analytical workflows like Redis or ElastiCache.

  • Possess any cloud certification- AWS, Google.

  • Expertise in designing analytical/data processing solutions that require great scalability

  • Experience working in a matured Agile delivery model.

  • Possess good communication & interpersonal skills.

  • Knowledge of DevOps tools for CI/CD pipelines and containerization.

  • Familiarity with Gen AI implementation.
