Position Description:

Kearfott Corporation is looking for a Staff Accountant to join our team in Black Mountain, NC. This person will become a valuable part of the finance team and enable cross-training of departmental responsibilities. The successful candidate will work closely with fellow team members and other business units to gather required information to complete assignments.

Essential Functions:

  • Prepares invoices in accordance with Federal Acquisition Regulation standards for cost-based contracts
  • Balance Sheet Reconciliations including adjusting entries.
  • Intracompany and intercompany postings and reconciliations.
  • Conducts research as needed for posting errors, debit memos, customer issues, etc.
  • Updates daily cash reports.
  • Works on special projects as required.
  • Supports finance during external audits.
  • Provides ad-hoc reports as required.
  • Assists with fixed-asset accounting, tagging, and auditing.
  • Cross trained to assist with AR or AP as needed.
  • Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading professional publications; maintaining personal networks.

Critical Competencies:

  • Ability to work independently under minimal supervision.
  • Ability to analyze and reconcile complex accounts and reserves.
  • Ability to follow through until the tasks are complete.
  • Strong organizational and communicational skills.
  • Ability to apply knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
  • Ability to research, compile, analyze and interpret data in an ERP environment.
  • Deadline-oriented, good time management and attention to detail.

Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance and a minimum of three years general accounting experience required.
  • ERP experience required; IFS preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to adapt to new and different computer programs and software to enable efficient data gathering and analysis.
  • Proficiency in Excel and Microsoft Office products.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the US, visa sponsorship not available.

This position is located at our Black Mountain NC facility. Relocation assistance is not available.
