Health Services Job DescriptionJob Summary Under the general direction of the Director of Medical Operations, and in collaboration with other health care providers, the Nurse Practitioner is responsible for the assessment, diagnosis and treatment of acute and chronic illness. Prescribes medications, orders testing and applicable treatments, assists in the management of patient's overall care. Teaches students how to stay healthy, manage illnesses and make healthy lifestyle choices. Refers students to specialists as needed. Functions independently within the scope of the Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) and the College's guidelines and policies. Refers exceptions to the Director of Medical Operations or Director of Pelham Medical Services. This is an academic year position working 39 weeks per year for 21 hours per week. Minimum Qualifications (knowledge, skills, education, experience, certifications, licenses) Current RN licensure in the state of Massachusetts. Current APRN licensure as a Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP-C) in the state of Massachusetts. Current Massachusetts Controlled Substance Registration (MSCR) and DEA registration number. Experience working with individuals from diverse backgrounds. Preferred Qualifications Experience working with college populations. Skills Leadership in professional and personal relationships, ability to work and communicate effectively with other members of the Health Service staff, students, and college employees. Ability and willingness to accept responsibility. Flexibility in personal and professional relationships in order to adapt to changing roles in college health service practices. Must be able to communicate effectively with a diverse population. Must have a thorough knowledge of general nursing theory and practice, including the basic fields related to nursing such as biological, physical, social and medical sciences and their application for a better understanding of patient care problems along with a thorough knowledge of current clinical practice.
