Research Technician 3 - to assist and support scientific investigation to study the role of tumor microenvironment in cancer progression and treatment resistance as directed in the Comprehensive Cancer Center.

  • Independently conducts assigned experiments

  • Performs a variety of routine in vivo lab animal experiments including immune cell isolation, cancer cell inoculation, tumor growth measurements and treatment administration

  • Maintains a mouse colony

  • Independently conducts in vitro experiments under normoxic and hypoxic conditions including molecular, cellular, and biological research techniques and procedures including immunoblots, ELISA assays, PCR reactions

  • Sorts and processes tissue samples

  • Tests and evaluates current procedures

  • Records, consolidates and assists with analysis of research results

  • Assists in evaluating validity of data obtained from experimental procedures

  • Summarizes data for inclusion in grant proposals and manuscripts

  • Prepares research progress reports

  • Assists principal investigator with the preparation of publications, manuscripts, articles, posters, and abstracts

  • Conducts library research on requested topics through researching current literature

  • Oversees and maintains accurate records of laboratory activities

  • Assists with training of junior research staff, and undergraduate and graduate students in research methods and equipment operation

  • Sets up and operates laboratory equipment

  • Monitors research supply, including specimens, inventory and initiates procurement requests as needed.

Education/Experience:

  • A Bachelors degree in chemistry/biology/health sciences is required.

  • Ability to translate, adapt and apply academic or practical knowledge in the conduct of biological/health science research is required.

  • Requires successful completion of a background check. Qualified candidates may be requested to complete a pre-employment physical including a drug screen.
