Job Duties
The primary purpose of this position is to establish plans and programs to address the annual and daily maintenance requirements for all the Athletics' Department's natural grass and synthetic playing surfaces. Included in this responsibility are the supervision of these plans and programs and the formation of the budgets necessary to carry out these programs. Also, direct supervision of the facilities crew in these efforts is the position's responsibility.

This position is responsible for the management and maintenance of all Athletics facilities. Included in this group are Dowdy-Ficklen Stadium (Football/Graduation), Cliff Moore Football Practice facility, Clark-LeClair Stadium (Baseball), ECU Softball Field, ECU Tennis Complex, Track Complex, Johnson Soccer Stadium, as well as associated buildings and grounds. The facilities are used by the Athletics Department, Physical Education, and ECU Club Sports and are used for recreation, practice, games, and special events.

All these existing and new facilities are managed and maintained by this position. Responsibilities of this unit include daily/annual maintenance programs, on-site construction management, as well as providing support and coordination for Athletics Operations in the preparation, planning, and on-site supervision for all practices, games, and events hosted by the Athletics Department and University.

Any and all renovations, upgrades, or new natural grass facilities are also primary areas of responsibility. This position will administer all these tasks with the associated budgetary, purchasing, and accounting procedures as required by East Carolina University and the state of North Carolina. This position will supervise full-time staff of one permanent Grounds Supervisor and one temporary worker. Position also supervises 5 to 8 student workers. This position submits work to be done to Facility Services and follows up on all work requests and completions. All contract or sub-contract work and consultations with turf managers are this position's responsibility.

Knowledge and experience with turf management is required. Position requires good communication skills and the ability to motivate and direct employees. This employee should be available to expand knowledge of new turf and trade technology with clinics, workshops, and other institutions. Knowledge and familiarity with machinery necessary to operation is required. A valid NC driver's license is required.

This position will build quality relationships and work collaboratively and professionally with Pirate Club, Athletics, University staff, students, business vendors, and all donors and stakeholders. Additional requirements are to abide by all written policies and procedures of ECU, the Department of Athletics, The Educational Foundation (Pirate Club), the National Collegiate Athletics Association ( NCAA), and all applicable conferences or associations.

This position will perform other duties as assigned.

Nights, weekends, holidays, and extended hours are required in the performance of duties.
Minimum Education/Experience
Associate degree and demonstrated possession of the competencies necessary to perform the work; or equivalent combination of training and experience. All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions.
License or Certification required by statute or regulation

Minimum of three years of work experience with stadium maintenance, crew supervision and subcontractor coordinator.
