The Opportunity

Ulteig is seeking talented and motivated candidates for a Lead Renewables Engineer position. This role will support utility-scale Solar, Wind, and BESS projects in a development and design capacity. The position will also support the Business Development team by actively coordinating with renewable equipment manufacturers to ensure Ulteig maintains a comprehensive technical and commercial understanding of current wind, solar, and energy storage technology platforms offered in the market and an understanding of their anticipated evolution over time. The selected candidate will engage with our clients and cross-discipline teams to provide innovative, forward-thinking designs and solutions to facilitate pre-construction, design, construction, and startup/commissioning of Renewable Energy projects.

What You'll Do



  • Apply current, standard engineering techniques, procedures and criteria, industry standards, and contract documents to provide general guidance to our clients throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Function as a technical liaison between Ulteig's sales teams, engineering teams, and clients to convey and clarify the value of the company's services and experience to technical or non-technical audiences.
  • Work directly with existing or prospective clients to demonstrate Ulteig's engineering and technical service capabilities, agility, and value.
  • Coordinate with teams internally to identify gaps and inefficiencies in Ulteig's current service offerings or capabilities and evaluate new business streams.
  • Demonstrate Ulteig's understanding of early, mid, and late-stage Developer/IPP needs and the company's ability to quickly adapt to client requirements throughout the lifecycle of project design.
  • Clarify deliverable uncertainties and expectations with clients at various stages of design.
  • Support discussions with new or existing clients to identify the best commercial and technical equipment fit for renewable project designs.
  • Recommend alterations to design criteria and design features to improve quality and mitigate risk.
  • Work closely with and provide guidance to engineering leads.
  • Rely on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish project goals.
  • Review plans and specifications for constructability, safety, and risk management considerations.
  • Maintain a value-engineering mindset throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Work closely with business and engineering staff across multiple markets and technical disciplines.
  • Work closely with clients to understand nuanced technical needs and identify best feasible solution(s).
  • Demonstrate a wide degree of out-of-the-box thinking, creativity, and design ownership.


What We Expect from You



  • B.S. in Electrical Engineering from an ABET accredited program or equivalent is required.
  • Successful completion of Professional Engineer (PE) registration, and NCEES Council Record, preferred.
  • Minimum of 10+ years of power systems engineering experience preferred.
  • Experience with utility-scale Renewables facilities with complex project requirements is highly desired.
  • Experience with various solar design software programs.
  • Knowledge of National Electric Code (NEC), National Electrical Safety Council (NESC), and industry standards a plus.
  • Knowledge of SCADA systems and system protection a plus.
  • Proven experience in Microsoft Software Applications (Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook).
  • Ability to travel periodically to client offices and project sites.
  • Must have permanent authorization to work in the US.

Additional Opportunity Details:
Target Base Compensation Range for this role is $118,000 - $160,000
* Factors that may be used to determine your actual salary include your job specific skills, education, training, job location, number of years of experience related to this role and comparison to other employees already in this role
