Job Duties:



  • A successful candidate will provide GIS support to a variety of energy sectors through the development of maps, databases, and spatial analyses.
  • The 'Project GIS Specialist 1' will be expected to work in the Esri software platform and be knowledgeable in the core environmental services that GAI offers its clients, such as wetland and stream delineation, state and federal permitting, and sensitive species surveys.
  • Works directly with Project Managers to maintain controls on budgets, scopes, and schedules for specified technical (GIS) tasks.
  • Assists with managing and administering ArcGIS Enterprise stack components, such as Portal and Enterprise (SDE) Geodatabases.
  • Trains others in the use of Esri products, including ArcGIS Desktop (Pro), Online, and Enterprise (Portal).


Education:



  • BS or better in Environmental & Earth Science or related
  • BS or better in Geography or related


Experience:

Required:



  • Expert-level technical skills working with the Esri products suite, including ArcGIS Desktop with 3D Analyst & Spatial Analyst Extensions, ArcGIS Online, ArcGIS Enterprise (Portal), and other GIS software such as Google Earth Pro.
  • Advanced-level experience publishing and managing feature services and using ArcGIS Online/Enterprise to develop and share web maps for use in Field Maps, Web AppBuilder or Experience Builder, etc.
  • Some experience in developing, publishing, and managing forms and surveys using Survey123 for ArcGIS.
  • Understands how Esri's "offline map areas" function and demonstrates an ability to author web maps and content for offline use.
  • Understands basic Enterprise (SDE) Geodatabase functionality and data administration workflows.
  • Assists with writing technical proposals.


Preferred



  • 10+ years of professional GIS experience, strongly preferred.
  • Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) experience, including development of resource report tables and figures, strongly preferred.
  • Direct supervisory experience strongly preferred.
  • Basic python programming skills preferred.
  • GISP certification, a plus.


General Characteristics



  • Begins to assist Task Managers and Project/GIS Manager as needed on technical aspects of the project; well-rounded in aspects of consulting and the industry

Education



  • Bachelor's Degree from accredited college or university program in Geographic Information Systems (GIS), Information Science/Technology, Geography or Cartography, Environmental Science with a certificate (preferred) or strong aptitude in GIS, and other relatedinformation sciences


Technical Responsibilities



  • Begins to learn to build Enterprise systems and understands the implementation process; learns code writing and software development skills; should have understanding of GIS requirements for company client sectors; data collection including field anddata analysis experience; web-based mapping application/service development experience; builds advanced GIS tools and workflows; performs quality reviews of technical work; hands-on training; serves as lead technical advisor on special projects

  • Begins to perform task management


Management Responsibility



  • Begins to assist with the supervision of technical studies within assigned tasks; can serve as Task Manager on small to midsize tasks requiring specialized technical expertise; maintains GAI's procedures and protocols; assists with identifying and scoping technical studies requiredfor projects.
  • Guidance and oversight from Managers and/or experts in specific technical areas


Communication Skills



  • Possesses effective oral and written communication skills; interacts with other staff; interacts with Project and Task Managers and various Department Managerial Staff; interacts withclients on technical issues atregular project meetings
