Job Description

The Vertex Co-op Program offers students the opportunity to learn about the pharmaceutical industry from a hands-on perspective. You will be working closely with and learning from some of the brightest people in the industry. Not only will co-ops learn about their day-to-day tasks through their specific work assignments, but they will interact and have exposure to our organizational leaders and their teams.

Job Summary:

The Revenue Accounting Co-Op will be a contributing member of the Global Revenue Accounting team. The Revenue Accounting team has responsibility for the accounting of product revenues including the application of US GAAP accounting principles to complex estimates as well responsibilities relating to operational activities, data analytics and supporting cross functional projects. The Revenue Accounting Co-Op will have the opportunity to participate in accounting activities relating to closing the books monthly and participating in operational projects.

The Revenue Accounting Co-Op will additionally participate in assisting the technical accounting team with critical tasks related to period end closes.

Key Responsibilities:

Key Responsibilities may include the following:

  • Participating in certain monthly accounting activities relating to the revenue monthly close, for example sales journal entries and account reconciliations

  • Review accounts receivable transactions and reporting; work with the team on any items that require follow up with third party service providers or customers.

  • Projects may include data gathering and analytics relating to sales, such as delivery metrics and accounts receivables; developing data dashboards and presentations; participating in automation projects and testing of solutions- including maintaining proper documentation.

  • Research accounting guidance (U.S. GAAP, IFRS, or other reporting frameworks) for new, complex, or unusual transactions

  • Support the compilation of financial data necessary to prepare financial statement and related disclosures required for external reporting.

  • Opportunities for additional projects may be identified Ad hoc projects may also be assigned such as documentation and policy requirements.

Accounting close activities will provide experience with core accounting processes that occur in the day to day environment. Projects will provide experience with data analytics, business partnering, presentation skills.

Qualifications:

  • Must be enrolled in a College/University and have at least finished two years of a Bachelor's Degree.
  • Applicants can also be recent undergraduates, but are only eligible if they are returning to graduate school in spring or fall
  • Prior internship or Co-op experience in Accounting
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment and to prioritize accordingly
  • Ability to work independently & in a team environment
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite of Software (Excel, word, PowerPoint, etc.)
  • Experience with Oracle a plus
  • A desire to be part of a highly innovate company aimed at transforming lives of people with serious diseases, their family and society.
  • Permanent legal authorization to work in the United States
  • Candidate must be enrolled in an advanced degree program if graduating before May 2025
  • Candidate must be available to work full-time, 40 hours per week from January - June 2025
