THE POSITION

DESCRIPTION OF WORK

As a representative of the Bureau of Juvenile Justice Services (BJJS), the position will perform professional, consultative, administrative, and educational work in the planning, development, improvement, and evaluation of basic education programs on behalf of and throughout the Commonwealth's delinquency and dependency systems. Major responsibilities will focus on researching, planning, developing, implementing, analyzing, and reviewing educational programs in residential and community-based settings throughout the Commonwealth. The primary focus will be to improve the academic services that delinquent youth receive while in residential placement and in their home communities upon return.

Work is performed with a high degree of independence and occurs at various locations throughout the Commonwealth and in a variety of roles within DHS; Office of Children, Youth, and Families (OCYF); and BJJS. This position will report to the Western Region PACTT supervisor and work will be reviewed through regular supervisory conferences. Apply today and join our team of dedicated professionals!

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment
  • Work hours are flexible between either 7:30 AM to 4:00 PM or 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 60-minute lunch.
  • You will be headquartered at your personal home which must be located in one of the following Southwestern Pennsylvania counties at time of hire: Allegheny, Westmoreland, or Washington.
  • The duties of this position require a high volume of travel. Although the work occurs primarily within the western region, you may be required to travel to other locations within the Commonwealth. You will travel frequently to meet with numerous stakeholders involved in providing educational, employment, and related transitional services for youth involved with the juvenile justice court system.
  • Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • Three years of professional experience in planning, developing, improving, or evaluating educational programs, and a bachelor's degree; or
  • An equivalent combination of experience and training.

Other Requirements:

  • You must reside in or be willing to relocate to one of the following: Allegheny, Westmoreland, or Washington counties.

  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.

Legal Requirements:

  • A conditional offer of employment will require a medical examination.
  • This position falls under the provisions of the Child Protective Services Law.
    1. Under the Law, a conditional offer of employment will require submission and approval of satisfactory criminal history reports including, but not limited to, PA State Police clearance, PA Child Abuse history clearance, and FBI Fingerprint clearance.
