This position supervises the unit operators to ensure the safe and efficient operations of the process unit at the LYB Recycling center in Jurupa Valley. The supervisor and shift team ensure optimum operating conditions are maintained to produce on spec products and ensure regulatory parameters are followed. The supervisor is responsible for the performance and development of up to 12 operators. The shift supervisor has authority and the responsibility to shut down any or all equipment to meet any applicable emergency situation.

A Day In The Life:

  • Accountable for developing a high performing shift team and developing individual operators skills and abilities, including discipline when appropriate.
  • Works with unit specialist, process engineers, and manager to ensure operations of the unit meet the business and site objectives.
  • Maintains knowledge of Unit procedures, equipment, and personnel to meet the objectives of the area including operations, safety, environmental, maintenance and quality performance.
  • Interfaces with the maintenance personnel on maintenance execution and outages.
  • Interfaces with the project engineering and construction personnel to manage projects in the area.
  • Reports, investigates, and initiates corrective actions in the unit. Actively troubleshoots problems and develops plans to resolve issues.
  • Works with other Shift Supervisors to train and evaluate operator performance. Ensures that policies, procedures, rules, and regulations are followed.
  • Communicates "relief information" to other Supervisors for continuity during "off-hours".
  • Accountability for unit housekeeping and accurate completion of operating discipline documentation.


You Bring This Value:

  • Typically 8 years of plant operations experience.
  • Experience working in a manufacturing plant environment.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills are essential, as well as excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to effectively interface with employees and all departments within LyondellBasell. Leadership, coaching and supervision skills are required.
  • The incumbent must have sound knowledge of process equipment operation and of basic principles of process chemistry.
  • The position requires good knowledge of Company policies, plant operating procedures, basic maintenance procedures, health, safety and environmental regulations and employee policies and practices.
  • The position requires good organizational skills with a proven ability to interface effectively with individuals from all departments within Manufacturing.
  • A good working knowledge of maintenance, safety, environmental and operational policies and procedures are required.
  • The individual should work well in a team atmosphere and show ability to develop and lead teams.
  • Experience with mechanical recycling technologies is preferred.

  • The anticipated salary range for this position is$94,160-$141,240. The selected candidate's compensation will be determined based on their skills, experience, and qualifications.
