Vaco is partnering with a rapidly growing clientin the veterinary services industry who is seeking aSenior Accountantto join their finance team on acontract-to-hirebasis. This role is ideal for a hands-on, detail-oriented professional with a strong background inU.S. GAAP,accrual accounting, andreconciliations. You will be responsible for managing the month-end close process, handling financial reporting, and overseeing balance sheet reconciliations for multiple veterinary practices.
Our client is currently scaling their operations and requires someone who can hit the ground running with minimal guidance, as the finance team is stretched thin and undergoing growth. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in bothfinancial reportingandaccount reconciliations, with experience working in large ERP systems. You'll be part of a lean team focused on streamlining processes and reducing working hours, while continuing to improve efficiency across the organization.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Reconciliation & Reporting:
    • Perform monthly reconciliations for cash, balance sheet accounts, and other financial statement elements.
    • Work closely with POS systems and the General Ledger (GL) to ensure accurate tracking and reporting, particularly in a manual reconciliation process.
    • Prepare and review monthly financial statements (Income Statement & Balance Sheet) in compliance withU.S. GAAP.
  • General Ledger (GL) Management:
    • Handle journal entries (JEs), accruals, and other key entries to ensure proper recording of revenue, expenses, and balance sheet activity.
    • Oversee the accounting foraccounts receivable (AR)andaccounts payable (AP)processes, ensuring accuracy in reporting and consistency with company policies.
  • Internal Financial Reporting & Analysis:
    • Assist with internal financial reporting to provide senior management with insights into financial performance.
    • Analyze trends in financial data, identify discrepancies, and recommend improvements to processes.
  • Collaboration & Communication:
    • Work closely with cross-functional teams, ensuring timely and accurate financial data, and help resolve discrepancies.
    • Support leadership in navigating organizational changes by maintaining clear communication and adaptability in a fast-paced, evolving environment.
Must-Have Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting(CPA strongly preferred).
  • 5+ years of experiencein accounting, with a strong foundation inU.S. GAAPandaccrual-basis accounting.
  • Proven experience withbalance sheet reconciliations, includingcashand other key accounts.
  • Solid experience injournal entries (JEs),internal financial reporting, andfinancial analysis.
  • Strong expertise inaccounts receivable (AR),revenue recognition,accounts payable (AP), andexpense tracking.
  • Highly proficient inExcelwith advanced skills for reconciling accounts and analyzing financial data.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal guidance, managing multiple priorities and deadlines.
  • Excellent communication skillsand a flexible, adaptable approach to change.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience withSage Intacct(GL) or similar ERP systems (work with large ERP systems is a plus).
  • Exposure to organizational transformations or experience working in a rapidly growing company.
