4-H Program Specialist - Tidelands Nature Center

Monday-Friday, 8am-5pm
Typically 40 hours per week with some night and weekend work.

Full time Program Specialist/Environmental Educator position at 4-H Tidelands Nature Center, a Georgia 4-H program facility located on Jekyll Island, GA. This is highly responsible work in program delivery and operation. Successful candidate will lead coastal ecology programs, oversee live animal exhibit care, and assist Tidelands Coordinator in the day-to-day operation of 4-H Tidelands program facility. Programs and live exhibits focus on marine ecosystems and include topics such as marsh & beach ecology, herpetology, invertebrate studies, sea turtles, etc. The position is responsible for assisting in the operation of the 4-H Tidelands including, but not limited to: live animal care, aquaria/exhibit maintenance and repair, working with general public in live exhibit gallery, teaching coastal ecology/environmental education classes, leading kayak tours/canoe programs, opening/closing the center, completing daily visitor and financial reports, communication with program staff and volunteers, light facility maintenance/cleaning/ landscaping, exhibit updates/repair. Includes regular weekends, occasional evening work, occasional off-site community events/programs. This position includes strenuous activity such as extended hours in the sun and on water as well physical demands such as walking, kayaking, lifting, etc.
