Position Summary

The staff social worker position is a licensed clinical social worker responsible for providing case management, consultation, and clinical services to MSU Denver students. This position works collaboratively with other departments in the Divisions of Student Affairs and Academic Affairs to enhance student retention and success.

Responsibilities

Direct Provision of Case Management/Clinical Services/Training - 65%

  • Provide case management and consultation services to MSU students, faculty, and staff. Coordinate referrals of students to mental health services in the community, including outpatient care, hospitals, treatment facilities, substance use treatment services, IOP's, and other higher levels of care. Follow up on referrals to ensure quality of care.
  • Develop and maintain a database of community referral resources and build community partnerships.
  • Maintain adequate clinical records and files, abide by professional standards and HIPAA guidelines.
  • Provide Initial Screening services, crisis intervention services, and bridge appointments to students as part of Counseling Center team and our clinical model.
  • Provide supervision to social work interns, as available and appropriate.
  • Support the Counseling Center training program in all areas with education and expertise.
  • May provide some additional direct clinical services to students on a limited basis (like individual therapy and group therapy), based on need and availability (not a primary focus of the position).

Indirect Service and Outreach - 30%

  • Coordinate case management efforts with the Health Center at Auraria Program Administrator and/or other relevant staff.
  • Coordinate case management efforts with the MSU Denver Care Team services.
  • Update staff and provide training to staff on relevant case management procedures, resources, and referral practices.
  • Support the Counseling Center's Outreach Program by providing stigma reduction/educational outreach programs to students/staff.
  • Attend and contribute to team meetings, outreach events, committee work, and all center-related endeavors.
  • When available, participate in national conferences, organization memberships, and listservs to stay current on case management operations and best practices in university counseling centers. work, and all center-related endeavors.
  • Initiates and maintains professional liaison relationships with faculty and staff to enhance outreach efforts to the traditionally under-served students on campus.
  • Serves on internal and university-wide committees, work teams, and task forces, in keeping with areas of expertise, interest, and needs of the counseling center.

Other Duties as Assigned - 5%

Required Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Social Work
  • Licensed in the State of Colorado as an LCSW
  • 1 - 2 years of relevant work experience post licensure
  • Previous professional case management experience
  • Previous clinical experience in assessing high-risk cases

Preferred Qualifications

  • 3 - 4 years of relevant work experience post licensure
  • Experience providing supervision to Social Work Interns
  • Experience with brief and short-term models of counseling
  • Previous experience working at a university/college counseling center
  • Experience and expertise in working with diverse populations
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Previous experience in utilizing an electronic health records system
  • Experience and training with the provision of telebehavioral health

Work Hours

  • Full-time, 40 hours per week
  • Exempt
  • Hours: Monday - Friday 8:00 am - 5:00 pm
  • Evenings and Weekend Work: Occasionally as needed
  • Schedule: While this position requires the candidate selected for hire to work in person, there may be flexibility of some remote work opportunities and hybrid schedules (subject to supervisor approval)
  • Travel: Rarely

Salary for Announcement

Under Colorado law, MSU Denver is required to provide a reasonable estimate of the compensation range for this role and should not offer a salary outside of the range posted in this job announcement. This range takes into account a variety of factors including but not limited to experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, analysis of internal equity, and other business and organizational needs. It is not typical for an individual to be offered a salary at or near the top of the range for a position. Salary offers are determined based on final candidate qualifications and experience.

The anticipated hiring range for this position is $65,000 - $73,000.

This position is paid monthly and is eligible for MSU Denver benefits.
