Position Summary:
We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a FGP Clinical Immunogenetics Technologist I.

Under direct supervision, the Clinical Immunogenetics Technologist I supports the Transplant Institute's Immunogenetics Laboratory by performing high complexity, immunologic testing in serological and molecular based assays. Individual must be eligible to obtain a NYSDOH training certificate as a Clinical Laboratory Technologist, successfully complete the Immunogenetics Laboratory's Training Program and obtain NYSDOH licensure prior to training certificate expiration.

Job Responsibilities:

* Receive/accession specimens and verify all information is accurate and complete.
* Train and obtain competency in each laboratory assay.
* Accurately document all laboratory results and ensure all records are complete.
* Maintain computer records for patient data, test results, reagents, and supplies.
* Participate in laboratory quality control and equipment maintenance.
* Upon completion of training, perform proficiency testing on a rotational basis.
* Prepare laboratory reagents
* Perform inventory checks
* Maintain a safe and clean laboratory area
* Adhere to all laboratory and institutional policies and procedures
* Participate in continuing education programs and maintain CE credits for NYSDOH and MT(ASCP), if applicable, accreditation
* Complete on call training for stat procedures
* Maintain technical and behavioral competencies
* Perform all other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

1. Bachelor's degree in Medical Technology or MT(ASCP) certification or Bachelor's degree in Biology or Chemistry or equivalent in order to meet the minimum New York State requirements to obtain a Clinical Laboratory Technologist full license or Clinical Laboratory Technologist Restricted License in Histocompatibility Testing.
2. Excellent oral and written communication skills and interpersonal skills.
3. Expertise in dealing with scientific principals involved in the methodology performed, as well as alternative methodologies and their application to a given situation.
4. Experience with Microsoft office, hospital-based and laboratory-based software systems.
5. One year clinical or research laboratory experience.
6. Must be available to report to work within one hour of STAT testing requests.

Preferred Qualifications:

1. New York State Department of Health full license as a Clinical Laboratory Technologist (CLT) or a restricted license as a Clinical Laboratory Technologist in Histocompatibility (CLT-HICO).
2. American College of Histocompatibility and Immunogenetics (ACHI) Certified Histocompatibility Technologist (CHT)
3. Previous experience in high complexity clinical laboratory testing

Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, specialty, education, and hospital needs.
