Project Analyst

The Project Analyst will be responsible for meeting individual objectives outlined by the PJM Divisional Portfolio Manager. PJM has custom corporate processes and tools for "capital" projects that are subject to funding and financial planning guidelines, including an annual audit. The Project Analyst will work closely with the PJM Project Manager and subject matter experts in order to comply with the corporate process in addition to applying industry standards and best practice Project Management methodologies (e.g. PMI PMBOK).

The Project Analyst is a key ingredient in each project's "PLT" (Project Leadership Team). The Project Analyst provides project management tools and process support in order to do adequate monitoring of project status and progress, as well as increase chances of successful planning, management and delivery of individual projects and programs. Heavy participation in early project life cycle planning and coordinating future project activities to ensure that interim milestones and major goals are achievable within prescribed budgets, constrained resources, time frames and other parameters. Participate in delivering business case and project charter reviews with senior leadership early in project life cycles in order to baseline project scope-schedule-costs and receive funding.

The Project Analyst will be assigned to a common grouping of projects and/or programs that roll up to a divisional capital portfolio. Most projects are IT and/or Cyber Security in nature. Project drivers range from strategic corporate objectives, to compliance requirements, to a variety of hardware and software lifecycle projects that support business continuity and business value delivery.

The Project Analyst will perform other project management activities to ensure the accuracy, quality and integrity of the project scope-schedule-cost information.

  • Support Program and Project Managers achieve program and project objectives.
  • Assist in reviewing project proposals or plans to help determine time frame and procedures for accomplishing projects.
  • Assist in creating project's work breakdown structures, highlighting critical paths, and phases as applicable
  • Perform project close-out activities as needed. Collect and analyze feedback and lessons learned documentation.
  • Confer with Project Manager to understand project management work plan, to accept separation of duties, responsibilities, and scope of authority.
  • Be familiar with established project scope, deliverables, milestones, and required tasks.
  • Prepare custom status reports for PLTs
  • Adhere to standards and procedures for project reporting and documentation.
  • Confer with Project Manager to provide advice and problem solving.
  • Coordinate requests for changes to baseline scope-schedule-budgets using established standards and forms.
  • Ensure easy and appropriate information access to staff and/or customers.
  • Work diligently to ensure the quality of Project Analyst work product including financial cost calculations, and variance to baseline explanations
  • Keep close contact with key customer representatives to ensure solutions are meeting their expectations and providing them with valuable information-sharing capabilities.
  • Work closely with the PLTs and divisional leadership to understand and prioritize business goals and information needs.



Required Experience & Skills:

  • MBA or Engineering Degree preferred
  • PMP certified a plus
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work with cross-functional teams
  • 5+ years' experience with MS Project / MS Project Server (version 2013 or higher)
  • 5+ years' experience with MS Excel (pivot tables & "VLOOKUP" formulas)
  • 5+ years' experience with Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, SharePoint) in a project management environment
  • 5+ years' experience in large scale IT Projects preferred (HW and/or SW; >6 month projects; >$1M budgets)
  • 1+ years' experience with procurement, competitive budding, RFIs/RFPs, and SOWs
  • Must understand the difference between Capital and Expense costs/budgets
