Mental Health Technician 1- Days

Inova Mount Vernon Hospital in Alexandria, VA is looking for a Mental Health Technician 1 to join our team supporting our Behavioral Health Unit. The Mental Health Technician 1 under the direct supervision of the Registered Nurse. Collaborates with care team members in implementing a plan of care to meet individualized and developmental patient care outcomes. Partners with the Registered Nurse to create a professional development plan to provide team members with the necessary skills to deliver up to date patient care.

Shift: Full Time 12hr (7am-7pm)

Hours: Monday-Friday, Every Other Weekend

Location: Mount Vernon Hospital

Job Responsibilities:

• Assists unit leadership with oversight of the unit's Mental Health Technician education needs/compliance.
• Collaborates with the Registered Nurse and healthcare team to advocate for patients' clinical, emotional, ethical, spiritual, and cultural needs.
• Provides individualized patient support for activities of daily living including bathing, feeding, bed making and measurement of vital signs and intake/output.
• Provides information to patients, families and visitors which may include orients patients to the unit/program, explains rationale for rules or restrictions and provides printed information.
• Serves as a resource and unit preceptor for all new Mental Health Technicians. Works with the unit leadership to ensure Mental Health Technicians have current competencies and skills to perform their work.

Requirements for Consideration:

• High School or GED
• Basic Life Support - American Heart Association.
• Preferred: Clinical experience
