Description Summary This position will be working on the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program Education (SNAP-Ed): Nutrition Education and Obesity Prevention Grant Program. This grant teaches eligible low-income community members how to eat healthy on a limited budget and lead physically active lifestyles. Strong candidates will have a background in providing education or formal training and experience teaching nutrition using prescribed curricula. This position will be required to keep detailed records for reporting and evaluation. The candidate will work independently, be well-organized, and possess a strong attention to detail. Travel is requiredthroughout the local service area and occasionally to statewide trainings in a central location (1-2 per year). Responsibilities Implement Maine SNAP-Ed program deliverables in accordance with USDA SNAP-Ed, Maine Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) and University of NewEngland (UNE) requirements. Develop new and strengthen existing partnerships with community-based agencies to provide obesity prevention services, including nutrition education and physical activity programs to SNAP eligible households. Partner with local eligible school districts, childcare centers, community centers, and other organizations serving low-income families to implement evidence-based nutrition programs. Work with community partners to develop and/or implement selected policy, systems and environmental change strategies that supplement the direct education and aid in obesity prevention. Support Maine SNAP-Ed social marketing campaign and social media promotion of programming. Attend required trainings and meetings, both in-person and online, in accordance with grant funding. Complete reporting and evaluation processes as set by USDA SNAP-Ed, Maine DHHS and UNE Required Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs) 1. Education: Associates or Bachelor's Degree preferred. 2. License/Certifications: N/A 3. Experience: One year of experience in healthcare or related work experience required.
