Overview
The VVH Senior Institutional Custodian is a leadership position within the Custodial/Housekeeping/Laundry Department at the Vermont Veterans' Home (VVH), a skilled nursing facility. Duties will include working in laundry and custodial, conducting audits, inventory, training new employees, addressing employee concerns and submitting a daily report to the supervisor. At times, you will have to reassign staff during an assigned shift. The ability to work cooperatively is essential. We currently have one (1) opening for this position. The hours for this position are 6am to 2:30pm and will include working weekends and holidays. There are times when the position may require that you be able to work the 11am to 7:30pm shift due to the operating needs of the facility. This position, VVH Senior Institutional Custodian (#51216), is open to all State employees and external applicants. Any person who has had a charge of abuse, neglect or exploitation substantiated against him or her is not eligible under the Vermont Veterans' Home licensing requirements. Candidates must pass any level of background investigation applicable to the position, including Vermont and national criminal record checks, adult and child abuse registry checks, the Office of Inspector General exclusion database, and motor vehicle driving record checks where applicable. Environmental Factors
Duties are performed in a nursing home environment, including office, common areas and patient care areas. Ability to work under stressful conditions required. Incumbents must be able to work outdoors in all types of weather. Good physical condition and ability to climb ladders and lift heavy weights and equipment (up to 40 lbs.) is necessary. Positions may be day or evening shift. Weekend shifts are required. Some overtime may be required. Minimum Qualifications
High School diploma or equivalent AND three (3) years or more of building custodial work, including floor care. OR Two (2) years or more of experience as VVH institutional custodian. Total Compensation
