Job Summary

Responsible for working in a wafer fabrication cleanroom inspecting semiconductor wafers using inspection equipment in wafer fabrication. Inspection is performed sitting at lab bench using optical microscopes. Utilizes high attention to detail and follows documented inspection criteria. Proactively communicates inspection results to Wafer Fabrication Technicians, especially when issues with defects are observed. Works in team setting with back-end team. May also ship product, receive materials, and/or work on other manufacturing processes or assignments in or outside wafer fabrication cleanroom, as assigned by supervisor. Will always follow safe practices including use of PPE when required.

Duties & Responsibilities



  • Performs in-process and final inspection of wafers in wafer fabrication cleanroom.
  • Demonstrates high attention to detail and reports any product defect issues to technician and/or engineers.
  • Summarizes and communicates findings accurately to engineering team and management as needed.
  • Inputs data into test database using a computer.
  • Always follows documented and undocumented work instructions.
  • Maintains stock of basic inspection lab supplies.
  • Works in collaboration with process sustaining engineers.
  • Works on other wafer fabrication processes, as trained, when requested by Supervisor.
  • Demonstrate strong teamwork with Fabrication Team.
  • Processes wafers according to detailed wafer traveler documentation in MES system.
  • Communicates any issues with equipment to equipment maintenance; perform basic preventative maintenance tasks as needed.
  • Suggests and implements process improvement initiatives.
  • Follows safety procedures and always uses PPE when required.
  • Performs other duties and projects as assigned.


Minimum Qualifications



  • Minimum of 2 years of semiconductor and/or electronic parts manufacturing experience.
  • Experienced with small parts inspection using a microscope.
  • Utilizes a high attention to details.
  • Must be able to professionally communicate effectively both written and verbally; and work collaboratively with management, staffs, and peers within a cross-functional team environment.
  • Good computer skills including email, word processing, spreadsheets, etc.
  • Some hands-on experience with equipment used in backend wafer fabrication, i.e. Automated inspection, wafer dicing and packaging.
  • Good conceptual, analytical, and problem-solving ability.



Preferred Qualifications:



  • Minimum 3 years of experience working in semiconductor manufacturing environment with direct, hands-on experience in wafer fabrication and wafer inspection.


Education

High School diploma.

Physical requirements/Work Environment

This position primarily works in a Class 100 cleanroom environment. The employee must be able to suit up and wear cleanroom attire for extended periods. It requires frequent sitting, standing, and/or walking. Daily use of a computer, microscope, and other computing and digital devices is required. Data entry will be a necessary part of the job. May stand or sit for extended periods when operating equipment or walking in the facilities.
