The Power Systems Engineer will be working as a member of a small integrated team responsible for operating and maintaining the United State Air Force's Hypervelocity Wind Tunnel No. 9 and Site infrastructure. JOB DETAILS: Job Title: Power Systems Engineer LOCATION: Silver Spring, MD JOB STATUS: Regular, Full-Time TRAVEL: N/A Pay Type: Exempt Grade: M09 Salary Range: 125,144-$166,858 JOB SUMMARY Responsible for planning and design of a wide variety of electrical systems including underground/overhead distribution, transformers and switchgear, substations, MCCs, plant & building power, lighting systems, fire alarm systems, security systems, communication networks, grounding systems, and lightning protection systems. This includes support for outside contractor installation as well as initiation and support of design/build subcontracts for performance of project scope. Work closely with other systems engineers in development of electrical and design requirements and ensuring proposed designs meet those requirements. REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS / SKILLS
B.S. degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering from a regionally accredited college or university and a minimum of seven years of progressive and relevant engineering experience.

RESPONSIBILITIES Provide engineering functions to support wind-tunnel testing at Tunnel 9. The candidate will take ownership of major electrical systems including underground/overhead distribution, transformers and switchgear, substations, MCCs, plant & building power and lightning protection systems. The candidate selected will coordinate facility and equipment improvement projects, follow project lifecycle (planning, budgeting, schedule, and execution), perform electrical design of tunnel components including single lines, provide assistance troubleshooting problems with tunnel components, and review work for application of sound professional judgment.
